The Chevin is a British band who has released a self-titled EP in the UK. It is not available in the US yet but they just played at SXSW, so hopefully it will be soon. I really like their alt-rock vibe.
You can hear influences of U2 and Coldplay in the long sustained notes of "Champion" but it doesn't quite have the same epic feel of many of U2's standards. I do really love the way the song fades out at the end though.
